Great American Backyard Campout 2011

This is something that I wanted ot do last year in 2010 but just didn't get to. I was talking with a friend about it and she decided to make it an event at her house. So I signed up. the day before I pack the Jeep with sleeping bags, cots, chairs, a tent, water bottles, crock-pot and various items needed for camping. What I failed to bring was pillows for Lulu and I and a lantern. We didn't realize it until we decided to go to bed later the next night.

We headed to town the next morning for an oil change, grocery store and then to Costco. Then it was off to SITE Sleuths house. we arrived on time. Houspitality Hostess was there too. It wasn't long before donkey and penguin, Mich Kathy and Family, Ypsitucky Queen and her son, SpartanFans, and KoalaCat joined in on the fun. A while later 4 eyes McGee came with old Poop. we stamped and stamped and found boxes and stamped some more. Just when we are thinking we are done for the night. SITE pulls out containers and says if we want a special stamp we have to catch a fire fly. I try to cheat and have one of my kids do it for me. But she was to smart to fall for it. So in her yard was a few adults and several kids catching Fire Flies. I caught one and got the stamp! how silly we must have looked. ;)

After all the backpacks were packed up and our inky fingers were dry we pulled up chairs to the fire and chatted until the wee hours of the morning. We finally fell asleep around 2am. Up by 8am and eating some Very Good Pancakes with Real Maple Syrup!!!! It doesn't get better than that. well If I had had a coffee that would have been the Best!

We each had brought a box and SITE had planted some before we arrived. The clues were written on construction paper and posted on a bulletin board. How clever. The boxes were fun to search for. Even the kids got involved. We started tearing down the campsite around noon and helped clean up. We left around 2pm making it a 24 hour event. When I arrived home and unloaded I logged online to see that the event was posted again, for next year. I immediately signed up to do it all again next year!

Way to go SITE sleuths. Looking forward to 2012 =)
