Great Lakes Gathering 2011

Wow, a Great Lakes Gathering in our backyard. What a treat. My youngest son and I packed our stuff and headed to what was going to be a stamping frenzy. We made sure we had room in our logbook and plenty of ink. It all started with a pre-gather on Friday night. Lots of exchanges were done, but not much mingling. I did meet Pugnasties and Castle Clan from out of state. That was nice. especially now that I can put faces with names. Before I knew it it was 11:oo pm. Too late to drive home.

We grabbed a hotel and had a good sleep and Breakfast in the morning. Then we headed back to the shelter for some more inky fingers. I was excited because I was going to meet Trekkie Gal. I chat with her often, but today we were going to meet. Yay. I got to the site and we had a group picture, and Site Sleuths showed up. Another Yay for me. It wasn't long after that Trekkie Gal came walking in. We introduced ourselves and began stamping.

Spartan Fans, SITE Sleuths, and I left for some boxes. We grabbed lunch and headed back to the park. We met several more on-line friends including Body Quest, Ace Blazer, Skull finder, and WI hiker and Matini Man just to name a few. There were well over 100 Lb'ers present.

After a while we decised to go find some more boxes. We even talked TG into going with us. Wouldn't you know it, 20 feet before our first find, my little guy decided he needed the rest room. Ugh, back to the shelter we go. By the time he does his thing, I call to see where the group is. They are too far to catch up. We end up just staying at the shelter until they get back.

My little guy hangs out with Rainy Day and skull finder, and I believe Nickerboxer and Samtracks. They were having such fun.

Then we had dinner, and some more stamping. Houspitality Hostess sure did make sure there was a lot of that going on.

We came home that night. The next morning looking at my logbook. I only found one box! but I did get many exchanges. It was the first time I did not spend all day out on the trails.

Lunagirl and Papa hosted a wonderful event with the help of Irish wild rose and SpartanFans, Ypsitucky Queen, and some others. It was a Good Gathering!
